2025 Gift Tax Exemption. On november 26, 2019, the irs clarified that individuals taking advantage of the increased gift tax exclusion amount in effect from 2018 to 2025 will not be adversely impacted after 2025 when the exclusion amount is scheduled to. The act applies only to tax years up to 2025, and it requires the elevated exemption to sunset on december 31, 2025.

For the calendar year 2025, the annual gift tax exclusion will increase to $19,000 per recipient, up from $18,000 in 2024. The internal revenue service (irs) has released its tax inflation adjustment figures for tax year 2025.
